Chance Collision

Chance Collision (Crossing Forces #2)
by C.A. Szarek

There is never a dull moment in this fast pace story filled with suspense, action, adventure, criminals, family and romance. This is the first book I have read by this author it is very interesting with a well blend plot. It was a thrilling and exciting read that at times had me on the edge of my seat, a few smiles and even a laugh or two, there is sadness, danger.

Peter is an interesting character but it took me a while to warm up to him with his wishy-washy ways, first hot and then cold plus he didn’t always tell the truth. Yes I understand him not wanting to get into a relationship due to his past but why not just be up front about it. Pete has always been attracted to Nikki but it is hands off since she is the asst. to the chief, but he just can’t seem to follow those orders. Nikki I liked she is strong, dependable and loving. She as well has been attracted to Peter for a while, but with his on and off again ways she should have just told Peter where to go. The only issue I had with her was she couldn’t walk away and kept jumping in bed with him. The chemistry between Pete and Nikki s very hot and steamy and emotional. I have very mixed emotions on these two.

Beside that I thought the story was great, loved the plot, the suspense and the action. There is always something going on that holds your attention. The story starts off with a shooting that is anything but random. Nikki is a witness and needs protection. Peter had to find the killer and protect Nikki at the same time. Talk about pushing the lines' heck he can’t even find the line where Nikki comes in. The story does leave some unanswered question which may come out in the next book. It will be interesting to see where the author will take this series. I have not read Andi and Cole story but I feel I might have to. I really liked how Andi stood up to Peter and let him have if for the way he treated Nikki. Bottom line the plot has a few issues in the romance but the rest of it makes it worth reading.

Summary
Vowing to protect her had nothing to do with feelings.

Detective Pete Crane catches a new shooting case and considers it business-as-usual. But when the lead witness is the Chief of Police’s fiery assistant, he never anticipated she’d challenge him—personally and professionally. Especially while under his protection.

Little do they know, the shooting she and her grandmother witnessed was anything but random.
Thrown together, their attraction sizzles, even though she’s squarely in the no-fly zone. She makes him break every rule in his little black book.

Nikki Harper has been attracted to Pete since they met two years ago. Witnessing a brutal shooting throws her into a stigma that’s always been her greatest fear—a victim. She has no choice but to accept his protective custody and let him help save her and her beloved grandmother.
Can Pete protect his witness and solve the case, while fighting the intense heat with Nikki?.
