Monica's Mystery: Sweet Historical Western Romance

Monica's Mystery: Sweet Historical Western Romance (Grandma's Wedding Quilts Book 5)
by Kate Cambridge

This is a story of passion from body to soul, overcoming optical, pushing the lines, knowing what you want, going after it, and not letting anyone stand in your way, danger, along with finding that one person who accepts you as you are. I love how clean, sweet it is but still has passion, power and really shows how hard it was for women back in this time. The author has not trouble showing you all this an more in this highly entertaining read that will keep you on the edge as you twist your way through the dangers of one women who wants more from life. Monica is so full of life with so many people who want to keep her in a box making her live a life that is as old as time. Monica wants to spread her wings, grow and become an independent woman who can take care of herself. A husband and children are not on her horizon, mostly I think because she doesn’t believe she can find a man that will not try to change as well as try to control her making her a housekeeper and baby maker. She is very good as solving mysteries her dream is to become a detective, a lawwomen or a ranger. One man she grows up with sees her as a challenge and wants to bend her to his ways. He wants to marry her and her family is behind him. As you can imagine the word NO didn’t go over to well. Now she most make her escape before she is given no choice.

Going to visit a long time friend in Texas she plans to start over making her own way. It isn’t as easy as it seems because even with the men of Texas being a little more leant they still think women should not be in dangerous situations. She believes if she can prove herself she can make a living and just maybe be a Texas Ranger some day. What she finds is it isn’t as easy as she thought and danger is almost on her doorstep. This is one woman that just can’t seem to stay out of trouble as she takes on the Texas Rangers and the people of the town of Galveston

At first you really do not know what to think of Gabriel he seems like a hard unkind man until you hear his story than his action fall into place. I really liked this handsome Texas Ranger who puts his self out there bring justice to this town where crime seems to be rising daily. He really tries to keep everyone safe but it seems Monica is determined to put herself in as much danger as she can. He and Monica are drawn to each other the attraction is strong but neither want anything to do with the other. Once come across as not to smart when she makes choice that could get her killed and the other comes across as hateful but really wants her to wise up and stop putting herself in danger.

What I really loved about the story is the fast pace that keeps you hopping from one mystery solve to another taking its place. There is never a dull moment in this thrilling exciting read. I really liked how Monica’s mind works, how she works out and solves the mystery, how the town’s people look at her. I simple just love this plot and the characters in it. The supporting characters add so much to this story line they really pull you in. The twists and turns keep you on your toes making you hold your breath keeping your heart beating double time. This is really an action pack read from start to finish. It’s a very well thought out story that keeps the reader invested not only in the characters but the story it’s self. I just had to finish this story last night and was up very late. I just could not put it down. There is nothing I didn’t love about this story.

The entire Grandma’s Wedding Quilt series has been a very pleasant surprise from very talented authors who really know how to give a highly entertaining read that really hooks the reader. After reading one you won’t be able to wait to read the next one in line. I love how well blended the whole series is and how Grandma and her quilts come to play in each story. I really am looking forward to the rest in this series. I loved this story so much I have pick it to be one of my favorite reads for this year.
