4.5 stars
Hell for Leather (Malloy Family #8)
by Beth Williamson

Everyone should get a second chance with Cade and Sabrina that is just what they get along with a young lady who has lost everything. The author gives you a story with meaning that stays with you after you finish the read. As you get to know Cade and all he has went through the author makes you wish you had read past books in this series to find out all that lead up to this book. I can understand why he needed his own story he is a wonderful character who just wants to start over. As he kills his old self and takes on a new life he finds not all things are easy. There is one sassy woman who has gotten his attention along with an even sassier child between the two they drive him up a tree. What he finds is he wouldn’t have it any other way. Now he must show this town what he is made of as he makes this his new home. He has a lot to learn and if the town has anything to say about it this will be a very fast lesson.

Cade is a well know gunslinger by the name of Kincaid he wants a normal life but his past always finds him. He makes one last stand as he plots his own death and buries his things from his old life from his guns to his clothes he takes a new name to start his new life. He moves to a small town where the people aren’t sure of him, buys a cabin up in the hills far away from everyone. As he starts his new life he goes to town to buy supplies where he meets new people who make him feel uneasy. The towns people isn’t sure of him either some are jealous others are afraid and some just want to make him theirs. Cade has never had a family just a lot of painful memories of growing up. He has a lot to learn and a lot to overcome before he can be the man he wants to be. There is one lady who is willing to give him her all if he learns these lessons, heck she is even willing to teach him them. I really like Cade he did the best he could with what he had to endure from a young age. He really is a wonderful man and character, I think he has always had good in his heart he just was trying to get by doing the best he could with what he had been given. When push comes to shove he is a stand up guy who will stand his ground in many ways. What he truly wants is a place to call his own, a woman to love and that loves him, well he just wants a family. I do not really even think he knows this until it hits him over the head. The author goes into his past which will break your heart as she paints a very painful past of abuse of the worse kind.

Sabrina has had a pretty hard time of it from the man she married and lost. This part will break your heart as the author gives you a story inside a story that is very painful. Sabrina has a big heart as you will come to find she has done a lot of forgiving. What she truly wants is a man to call her owns one that loves her with all his heart, something she really never had. She loves her town and the people in it but she isn’t one to back down from a fight. She will stand her ground not only for her town but for the people she loves. I just loved this strong mind woman who really stand up for those she believes in. She has no trouble taking anyone down a peg or two. She can be stubborn but kind, she will walk a mile for you but in return you will walk a straight line. She has poor Cade tied in knots and pushes him to give his self a chance not only at his new life but at love.

The author gives you wonderful characters with outstanding supporting character that will keep you laughing at all the stuns they pull. One of my favorite characters is Bernice she is a sweetie and just as sassy and full of herself as Cade is. She had me laughing and smiling all through the book. She alone made this book worth reading. The author gives you some very heated passionate scenes that is sure to heat up your e reader. She gives you some very touchy issues but writes them in a classy style that breaks your heart as it gives meaning to the read. The ghost of the hills gives you much entertainment as it drives Cade nuts. Cade seeks to find the truth with a little help from Sabrina to bring this ghost tales to an end as well as helping the ghost find its rightful place. The only issues I had with this read were at times I felt the story was a little rushed. I can’t say it took away from the read just moved a little faster than I liked.

Ms. Williamson gives you a well told story that shows us no matter how bad we think we have it we can overcome and make our life better. Your past might come back to haunt you but you can overcome it if you face it and do what is right. There are people who will always care for you if you only open yourself up to let love in. She gives you characters you can relate to and fall in love with, heck I would be honored to call Cade my man knowing he could take care of me no matter what. This is the first story I have read of Ms. Williamson I won it in a giveaway. It was a book I wanted to read and was very thrilled to have won it. Ms. Williamson can now add me to her fan club she not only gives you a well written story but goes right into the heart of her characters as she helps them learn a well deserved lesson of chance, rebirth and love. I do hope to see more of these characters and how life has treated them as the author continues this series.
